STEP 1
- Getting Started:
Please make sure your work area is covered and you are not working on an unprotected surface. We recommend working on the Sculpey® Oven Safe Work Mat, wax paper, metal baking sheet, or disposable foil. Uncured Liquid Polymer Clay may damage unprotected furniture or finished surfaces. Be sure to cover your crafting area appropriately. – Stir Liquid Sculpey® completely. Thin with Sculpey® Liquid Clay Softener as needed – Wash hands after use (we have found that baby wipes work best)
- Baking:
•It is important to use oven thermometer when you bake the liquids so that you can ensure your oven is at the correct temperature.•Do not microwave the liquids. They must be baked in a Preheated oven at 275 ºF (130 ºC) for liquid colors and 300 ºF (149 ºC) for Clear – Do not exceed baking temperatures.•If your piece is less than 1/4” bake for 15 minutes. For thicker pieces that are 1/4” or above bake for 30 minutes. •If your liquid project has become yellowed or discolored in the oven, when you remake it, tent it by placing either – folding an index card in half and placing your project under it or by using aluminum foil over your project.
STEP 2
Gently Stir the Bronze Liquid Sculpey and fill the hoop shape in the Jewelry Mold. Bake at 275 °F for 15 minutes. If you have one mold repeat until you have two bronze hoops. (designer note: please ignore the other pendant that is filled to bake – I often create multiple designs in the same baking!)
STEP 3
Now turn your Jewelry Mold round, with the shapes facing your work surface! You can use the back side of the hoop shapes to get the perfect shapes to use inside of the hoops! Add some gold foil to the shape. You do not want to be neat with that and let the foil look in some air!
STEP 4
Now fill the oval shape with Peacock Pearl Liquid Clay. Bake at 275 °F for 15 minutes. If you have one mold repeat until you have two Peacock Pearl Ovals.
STEP 5
Condition and roll out your scrap clay, the same height as your baked bronze hoops! We want to make it easier to print on the hoops. For this reason we will make a “frame” for the hoops so the screen of the print will lay flat while printing. Press one of your hoops on the flat scrap clay and use the exacto knife to cut out the “negative” hoop shape and a tiny bit extra. Bake the outside and inside of the loop shape at 275 °F/130 °C for 30 minutes. Let cool
STEP 6
Now set one loop into the loop frame and cover it with “Palm” design from the “Nature” silk screen. Add a line of gold acrylic paint just above the design. Use the squeegee tool to drag the paint evenly over the screen to print the design on your bronze hoop. Use your non-dominant hand to secure the screen so it will not slide while you do the print. When the print is done immediately place your silk screen in your bowl of water, so the paint will not get stuck in the screen. After cleaning and drying the screen you can repeat the print on your second hoop.Let the print dry thoroughly before continuing with the next step!
STEP 7
I used the “Palm” design with golden paint on one set of earrings and the “Vine” design with silver paint on the second pair of earrings.
STEP 8
Drill a hole in each of the Peacock Pearl ovals with the hand drill. Use a big jump ring to attach the ovals to the hoops. Add the earring hooks to the hoops.
